Saturday AHL Playoff Preview
There are three playoff games scheduled for Saturday night, all of which can decide a series.
Portland Pirates at Connecticut Whale—Portland leads 3-2
With a victory in game 6 on Saturday, the Pirates will win the series, and advance to round two. Portland defeated Connecticut in game 5, 5-4, thanks to an outstanding game played by forward Mark Mancari, who is today’s player to watch from the Pirates’. Chad Kolarik is the player to watch from Connecticut tonight.
Binghamton Senators at Manchester Monarchs—Series tied 3-3
The 2010-11 AHL playoffs will have their first game 7 of the year Saturday night, when the Monarchs host the Senators. Manchester originally led the series 3-1, but with back-to-back overtime winners, the Sens’ have evened the series. Ryan Keller is the player to watch from Binghamton, and Bud Holloway for Manchester.
Norfolk Admirals at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins—Penguins lead 3-2
A victory for the Penguins will put them past the Admirals—who originally led the series 3-2—and onto the next round. The Penguins have won three straight games against the Admirals, allowing a total of only four goals in the games. Mattias Ritola is the player to watch on Norfolk, as he returns to the line-up, and Ryan Craig is the player to watch for the Penguins.
