Petro Hoping for Offer Sheet? Plus Much More...
If you’re a Blues fan you’ll want to pay close attention this weekend. As the NHL entry draft approaches there’s more attention on the NHL roster than the prospects the team will look to add.
The team will look to shed a goaltender and the rumors are already swirling. If Philly is the trade partner Sean Couturier could be involved. The Blues were rumored to be interested in the young center and former first rounder during the regular season.
Perron on the move?
David Perron’s named has surfaced as well but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk. He could very well be moved but the Blues will have to be certain they get a better player coming back. One person close to the situation told me “I haven’t heard that” in reference to Perron being shopped.
Alex Pietrangelo is seeking minimum $7 million AAV, with term, in his coming deal. Word is he won’t entertain anything with a $6 in front of it. Talks have yet to materialize and he doesn’t have arbitration rights to use as leverage. You can be sure he and his camp are hopeful an offer sheet comes his way. Would you be comfortable giving him $7million a year based off of what we’ve seen in his first three full NHL seasons? GM Doug Armstrong has already said the team will match any offer sheet. Would a team be willing to throw $10 million or even more per year on a four year deal?
Look for this situation to pick up momentum in the coming days. He could fetch $4.5 -$5 million in an arbitration case. I don’t see it reaching arbitration.
He’s been qualified but the team may wait to see if they can move a goaltender at the draft before signing him. St. Louis could him to a one-way in an effort to bring his number down.
The team has offered him a contract for next season but apparently it was lower than what he expected. He could get moved this weekend. He also has arb rights in his pocket.
I’m told the Blues have offered him a two-year deal. He could possibly fetch another year in the open market. There’s still a chance this gets completed before July 5th.
The Devils will not re-sign Matt D’Agostini which means the Blues get the Devils 5th round pick in 2015 and the Devils keep the Blues 7th in 2015. If the Devils kept D’Agostini the Blues would have received the Devils 4th in 2015 while getting their 7th round pick back.
Islanders forward Brad Boyes will likely be testing free agency. He and the Isles have talked but it appears he will be moving on.
Carlo Colaiacovo could be bought out by Detroit if they’re unable to trade him before the buyout period expires July 4th. Congrats to Colaiacovo who is getting married to day in Toronto.
GM Doug Armstrong tells me no, the Blues are not looking to bring Miller on board. I can confirm St. Louis is a team Miller would accept a trade to but Armstrong tells me they couldn’t fit his salary in under the salary cap. I guess if they moved significant dollars out they could, but I don’t recommend holding your breath.
St. Charles Chill…
The team has new ownership and Jamie Rivers has added the General Manager title along with his Head Coach responsibilities. The team is expected to have a press conference next Tuesday where they’ll make the announcement along with introducing several local players who will suit up this season. The players include Jordy Fox, Kyle Kramer, Tony Dehart, and Kyle O’Kane.
