You have to give agent Terry Bross credit for creating a ton of hype for All-Star Shane Doan. I think he has every team interested. Which could be true, afterall Doan has been a great player for a long time. The Coyotes Captain is all over sports pages across North America with teams interested in signing the free agent. Toronto, New York, Vancouver, Detroit, San Jose, and St. Louis are just a few.
The soon to be 36 year-old would be a great addition to any club but sources say he’ll likely require a 3-4 year contract to sign. He’s made it loud and clear that his preference is to remain in Phoenix but their ongoing Ownership issues may force him to sign elsewhere. With his wife being from Kamloops, British Columbia, Vancouver could be an enticing destination.
When it comes to the Coyotes Ownership ordeal, it's gotten to the point ot where I don't beleive anything I read anymore. What you have here are people leaking information for their own personal interest. It's best everyone just sit back and wait for something to become official.
Bross is also a baseball agent and is currently in Kansas City for the MLB All-Star game. He represents Atlanta Braves All-Star Dan Uggla among others.
Beleive it or not, the idea of the Coyotes folding and the players being dispersed throughout the league is actually being tossed around. How many teams will line up to get their hands on Head Coach Dave Tippett? I don't see this happening.
There’s also Brenden Morrow chatter although there doesn’t appear to be any imminent plans for Dallas to move him. He has a full no-trade clause and so far no one from the Stars organization has approached him about waiving it.
Morrow dealt with neck and back pain for most of last season and his offensive numbers suffered as a result. Sources close to Morrow tell me his rehab has gone very well and he’s nearing 100%. I’m told the Stars have given the player no indication they are looking to trade him.
The market has certainly stalled in relation to the few free agent D-men still available. One NHL source tells me teams will get through their prospect camps and will evaluate their own guys before moving on to signing a depth player.
San Jose free agent Benn Ferriero expects to sign a two-way contract as soon as this week.
