Arnott Signs with Rangers
Longtime NHL veteran Jason Arnott has agreed to a 1-year contract with the New York Rangers. The deal will pay Arnott a pro-rated $1.6 million salary, plus incentives.
Arnott is healthy after having off-season knee surgery. Known for his shot, the 38-year old can still pound the puck and adds a scoring touch as evident by 17 goals last season.
Arnott provides depth up the middle and can be an additional power play option for Head Coach John Tortorella. He’ll also add experience to a dressing room filled with Stanley Cup aspirations.
The Ontario native still carries a reputation as one of the better conditioned athletes in the league and has an interest in helping younger NHL players train once his playing days are over.
In 1,224 career games Arnott has 417 goals and 938 points. He spent the lockout with his family in Dallas, Texas.
