Announcement Expected Soon From Guerin

Oct 20

It’s hard to believe a player who scored 21 goals in the NHL last season can’t a land a job.  In fairness Guerin probably could have received an NHL contract but at this stage of his career he’s looking for another chance to win. He wasn’t about to sign with just any team. Guerin will turn 40 years old in November and has over 1,200 NHL game played on his resume.

It appears he’s played his last game.

Guerin is currently in Long Island, New York with his wife and four kids just hanging out and enjoying life. Once the Philadelphia Flyers released him it was only a matter of time before Guerin would have to come to terms on his future as a professional hockey player.  While no official announcement has been made I’m told we can probably expect one in the next two to three weeks. Obviously a team could always suffer a key injury and place a last second call but that doesn’t seem likely. It’s not like Guerin is skating everyday in anticipation of playing again this season.

This guy will go down as one of the best American born years ever.  He was truly an integral part of a cast of U.S. born players that helped put American hockey back on the map.  From Chelios, Hull (dual citizen), Roenick, Weight, Tkachuk, Leclair, Modano, Leetch, Amonte, Suter and Richter, Guerin is right there with these guys.  On top of his 429 career goals and 427 assists Guerin won two Stanley Cups, an Olympic Silver Medal, as well as a Gold medal in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey in one of the more memorable games ever.

 More to come,

always be glad BLUES signed Guerin for those 61 games in 06-07 to get the 19th overall pick in David Perron the following season. 1 of only 3 good signings that Putz i mean Pleau ever made in 13 years as GM... but i think JD may have a hand in that one so Putz gets 1/2 credit for it!
